Editorial purpose
Loot ’n’ Lingo provides interactive language adventures and information about the product and its community.
Privacy notice
The operator named above is the controller. We process only the data needed to run, secure, and improve the service.
Playing and accounts
A guest identifier is created only when a run starts or feedback is submitted. We store language settings, runs, turns, learning cards and technical usage records. Beta reports contain the chosen category, message, optional contact email, current page and language settings. With an account, Clerk also manages sign-in data, sessions, username and profile image. The service and account rely on GDPR Art. 6(1)(b); feedback, security and abuse prevention on our legitimate interests under Art. 6(1)(f), and mandatory records on Art. 6(1)(c) where applicable.
Public leaderboard
Every registered account with eligible XP is automatically included in the public leaderboards. We publish the profile name and profile image managed through Clerk together with eligible earned XP, split into Language XP and Adventure XP by adventure language and the selected day, month, year or all-time period. Email, inputs and learning feedback remain private; deleting the account also removes the listing. AI-supported scoring is approximate and may vary.
Service providers
Clerk provides authentication; Vercel hosts the app and private image storage; Turso stores application data; OpenAI processes prompts to generate story, language, translation and optional image output. For Quest Pass purchases, Stripe acts as merchant of record and handles checkout, subscriptions, payment, indirect tax, fraud, disputes and transaction support; Stripe and Link process the corresponding data under their own notices. Loot ’n’ Lingo stores Stripe customer and subscription identifiers and status, but no card data. International transfers may occur only with an applicable legal transfer mechanism.
Storage and deletion
The guest cookie expires after 30 days. Beta reports are kept for no longer than 180 days. Account and game data remain while the account is active or as needed for the service and legal claims. Deleting the Clerk account triggers deletion of linked reports, runs, cards, drafts, private images and profile data. Stripe and Link may retain payment and transaction records independently for their statutory and compliance periods. A published contribution may remain only without the deleted profile attribution.
Your rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or object where the legal requirements apply. You may also complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority. Use the direct contact above; we may need to verify your identity.
Cookies and local storage
Loot ’n’ Lingo currently uses only necessary Clerk session storage, a guest cookie after play begins or feedback is submitted, and local browser storage for language, the game-sound preference, dismissed help hints and the active run reference. There are no advertising cookies, analytics trackers or other optional trackers, so no consent banner is shown.
AI transparency
The Storykeeper, author workshop, translation help and optional image generation use AI. AI output can be inaccurate, unexpected or unsuitable and is not a language certificate or professional advice. AI interactions are labelled in the product; do not submit sensitive personal data.
Terms of use
Loot ’n’ Lingo is a browser-based digital language-learning service. Its free starter allowance is granted once per account. The contract for using the product is with the operator named above; a paid Quest Pass transaction is sold and billed by Stripe as merchant of record under the terms shown in Stripe Checkout.
Quest Pass, billing and renewal
Quest Pass provides the adventure-turn and translation quota shown for the selected plan. Monthly and annual subscriptions are charged in advance and renew automatically for the same interval until cancelled. Annual plans are billed once per year, while their quotas refresh monthly on the subscription anchor date; unused quota does not roll over. Stripe shows the final price, currency, applicable indirect taxes, renewal date and the timing and cost of plan changes before confirmation and on its receipts. XP and leaderboard rank cannot be purchased.
Cancellation, withdrawal and refunds
A subscription can be cancelled at any time through the Quest Pass, Stripe Customer Portal or Link and then ends at the close of the current paid billing period unless Stripe expressly shows another effective date. Ordinary cancellation is distinct from a statutory withdrawal. Mandatory withdrawal, refund, conformity and termination rights remain unaffected; Stripe and Link handle payment-related requests as merchant of record under the checkout terms, including an applicable 14-day consumer cooling-off period.
Digital service and defects
Mandatory rights for digital services remain unaffected. If paid access is not supplied or is defective, contact the operator or Stripe/Link. We may make proportionate security, compatibility and product updates. Material changes to paid access apply only where legally permitted and, where required, with advance information and a termination option. No availability disclaimer limits mandatory claims.
Fair and safe use
Do not misuse the service, evade limits, attack accounts or infrastructure, automate abusive traffic, or submit unlawful, harmful or rights-infringing content. We may restrict access when necessary to protect users, the service or third parties; mandatory and paid contractual rights remain unaffected.
Your adventure material
Only submit stories and images you may use. Submission requests a private review and does not publish the work by itself. Publication requires a separate approval decision; deleting an account may anonymize an already published contribution.
